Giving up my roots.

I gave up my Michigan drivers license today.  I haven't lived in the state in almost 5 years, but I'm still sad to see it go.  I was 50 pounds lighter, my hair was 10 inches longer, I hadn't gotten married or had the girls yet.  Even after the beaches in Hawaii, the lakes in Michigan are one of my favorite summer spots.  My birth certificate may be from another state, but the Mitten will always be home to me.

Home Improvement

I didn't post yesterday- it happens.  Today's been spent working on moving the girls' toys from their shared bedroom (which is pretty huge!) to the family room that's been used as a storage area and for my craft supplies.  I desperately need to go through the toys and pull out the baby stuff, seeing as Little D is going to be two in just a couple months!  I'm having a difficult time deciding on the type of beds for the girls, since Little D is a bit adventurous and prone to getting hurt.  I love the look of the wrought-iron style beds, but I'm just imagining her bonking her head on it and us spending the night in the emergency room.  Depending on D's level of interest, this weekend I might be able to convince him that we can build some tufted headboards and pick up some cheap frames for twin mattresses.

My crafting area is a disaster right now- I really need to put some of my yarn away until I decide what I'm doing with it.  There's just too much stuff and not enough room in my small desk.

This was originally a reading nook in the girls' room, but is probably going to be where one of the beds will go instead.

Back to work.

D had to work today, after a long 4 day weekend.  He spent 5 weeks in Airman Leadership School, a grueling course to prepare airmen for their roles as NCO's.  It was a lot of early mornings, late nights studying, weekends full of volunteer work and mandatory study groups, and very little family time.  It was nice having him back home, and having a much more reliable schedule.  No new pictures, but here me and D are the day we got married.

The World Traveller

My uncle D is fishing with his fraternity brothers from college this weekend, and drove out to see us this afternoon.  Lately work has been keeping him busy, traveling to Paris for two weeks then spending 3 months in Indonesia.  The girls absolutely loved playing with him, even after D ran into our shelves and split her lip open.  My grandpa, Uncle D's dad, passed away last March before he was able to meet Little D, so I'm wanting to take more pictures of family when we get the chance to see them.

The only pictures I have of Grandpa R and Little A.

2/21

Not much going on today, my uncle is going to be in town so we've been picking up the house.  I got my hair cut short, back into a pixie cut again.
I feel more like myself when I've got short hair, although I think when it's this short, I need to do my makeup and wear more jewelry to look more feminine.

Whoops...

Let's give this another try!  Apparently it takes 21 days to have a habit sink in, so I'm going to try blogging every day for the next three weeks.  Since last update, the R family has moved from Hawaii to Florida, bought a house, A's turned 3, and we spent some time in Michigan for my sister's wedding.

Fresh baby!

My friend A just had her second baby, and boy is he a cutie!  I went with her family over to the hospital the day he was born to get some pictures for them, and just wanted to share a few of my favorites.
